Finding Common Ground

We have been friends with the fabulous folks at Magic Rock Brewery in Huddersfield from a while now; supplying the filter coffee for their amazing on-site Tap Room, working at events with them and, of course, drinking their beer whenever we can. It’s always interesting to see how many of the Dark Woods team suddenly find they have time to do deliveries when Magic Rock have ordered some more coffee.

A year or so back, we collaborated with Magic Rock on a couple of coffee-spiked beers – one-off versions of their Cannonball and Highwire beers, for events. Then, in the Autumn of 2015, things progressed and the idea was born to work on a true coffee-beer. the Magic Rock team spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Dark Woods mill cupping and tasting a whole range of coffees that would eventually end up in a new beer. magic-rock-coffee-beer

In total, seven different malts combine with seven different coffees, added at three different points during the brew. The result of this was Common Grounds – named to celebrate locality and our shared philosophy in quality and creativity. A Triple Coffee Porter 5.4%, Common Grounds is a full bodied, smooth beer with rich fruit, sweet toffee and chocolate depth, accented with notes of vanilla and hazelnut.

Common Grounds was first produced in casks and kegs for pubs and proved to be a big success. We’re delighted to see that it is now going to be available in cans for everyone to enjoy.

We love working with like-minded, creative and inspirational people like the Magic Rock Team. Long may it continue.
